{"id":82,"date":"2010-02-07T22:51:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-07T20:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.prunk.si\/?p=82"},"modified":"2010-02-07T23:04:32","modified_gmt":"2010-02-07T21:04:32","slug":"gnewsense","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.janprunk.com\/?p=82","title":{"rendered":"gNewSense"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was browsing around the page of <a title=\"FSF\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fsf.org\">Free Software Foundation<\/a>, where I saw that they are promoting a fully Free software <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gnu.org\/gnu\/linux-and-gnu.html\">GNU\/Linux<\/a> distribution, called <a title=\"gNewSense\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gnewsense.org\/\">gNewSense<\/a>. At this moment the distribution is based on Debian Lenny which uses 99% of compatible sources from the &#8220;main&#8221; section, which is Free software. They are excluding some programs which don&#8217;t have a 100% Free source. By the way, this is also the distribution, which <a title=\"Richard Stallman\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richard_Stallman\">Richard M. Stallman<\/a> currently uses (<a title=\"What Richard Stallman uses\" href=\"http:\/\/richard.stallman.usesthis.com\/\">as of January 2010<\/a>). He uses a <a title=\"A 9 inch laptop with 100% free software (BIOS, drivers, etc.).\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lemote.com\/english\/yeeloong.html\">Lemote Yeelong<\/a> netbook with a <a title=\"Loongson chip\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Loongson\">Loongson chip<\/a> and a 9-inch display. This is his only computer, and he uses it all the time. He has chosen it because it can run with 100% free software even at the BIOS level. I have installed gNewSene on Ines&#8217;s old PC, and it allready has some Free shell users.
